| Villas CHIMAY is a small paradise with cosy Cabañas (Bungalows) and a restaurant built in traditional palapa style. This style is traditional to the Mayan people using the natural resource of palm leafs to form the roof, giving protection from the heat. Villas CHIMAY is an idyllic oasis located 1 km west of Holbox village. It is situated on the edge of a beautiful white sandy beach in a tropical garden of 1 hectare filled with indigenous trees; coconut palms, chit palms, agaves, seagrapes, mangroves and banana. Tranquil and inviting it is a place to linger and rest your soul. Villas CHIMAY is a place to relax, to refresh yourself in the blue sea, to experience unforgettable sunsets and to enjoy a nice drink. It is the perfect place for romance and relaxation. Your Swiss host Eliane has fulfilled her dream and has created a small, cosy "Hideaway". She has done her own planning and has been involved in the construction work. You will enjoy the personal atmosphere with international guests. Enjoy the beauty of nature, the remarkable beach and the variety of cooking. Holbox Island
| Holbox Island is located two hours from Cancun, in the north-east of the peninsula Yucatan, where the gulf of Mexico meets the Caribbean Sea. On the 35 km long and 1-2 km wide island there is only one village, called Holbox. Here 1500 local people live, 800 of whom are children. The village roads are sandy, and peaceful, giving the village a very special character and inviting you to walk barefoot. This tiny island is a panorama of wild, mysterious scenery and color contrasts (jade, turquoise and ochre). The islanders depend on fishing for their living, and are a very cheerful, hospitable and warm hearted people. Discover by foot or by bicycle the endless, white sandy beaches, the beautiful flora and the variety of animals like dolphins, turtles, shark-whales, flamingos and around 140 other species of birds. It is a paradise for shell collectors. Ecological tourism provides the opportunity to interact with ecosystems, live harmoniously with nature and engage in activities which relax the mind and spirit. | Holbox Island is located in the north-east of the peninsula Yucatan, 3 bus-hours (2 hours by car) distance from Cancun. Yucatan is famous for its history and the various Maya-Ruins, which are located within daytrip distance.

Isla Pajaros (Bird Island), Yalahau (Fresh Water Source) and Dolphin Watch A boat will bring you to this beautiful island called Isla Pajaros, which gives home to an extensive variety of exotic birds and you will get the unique chance to observe them from close up. After a short boat trip from Isla Pajaros, you will be brought to the fresh water source called Yalahau. This idyllic place is only accessible by sea. Here you can swim in the fresh and sparkling clear natural water, which is a pleasant refreshment. Holbox island is part of the wild reserve Yum Balam, which offers an ideal living space for dolphins. During the whole trip there will be looked out for dolphins by the guide, to experience dozens of Dolphins in their natural surroundings. |

Kayak-Tour A boat picks us up and brings us to the river mouth, from where we go unto the river by kayak. It is an opportunity to glide through the tranquil waters of the mangroves and enjoy the peace while watching all the different animals and birds of the area: red crabs, fishing eagles, pelicans, frigate birds, pink flamingos, ducks, spoon bills and many more. |

Whale-Shark Expedition (July and August) - a boat trip along the virgin cost of Holbox Island to meet the majestic and friendly Whale-Sharks (more than 10 meters long). A worldwide unique experience. |

| How to get from Cancun to Chiquilà (Holbox) by car? By car it will take you aprox. 2.5 hours. You take the freeway (Libre) Nr. 180 direction Merida and turn right direction Kantunilkin in Kilometro 80 (El Ideal). After another 80 km you'll reach Chiquilà from where you take the ferry to Holbox Island. |

| How to get to Chiquilà (Holbox) from Merida? There is one directbus going from Merida to Chiquilà (Holbox) daily, leaving at night. By car (it will take aprox. 4 hours) you take the Merida - Cancun road Nr. 180 (if you take the Highway get of in Valladolid - last exit). Turn left in El Ideal (kilometro 80) direction Kantunilkin. After another 80 kilometers you'll arrive in Chiquilà, where you take the ferry to Holbox Island. |

| Timetable and Price of the Ferry? The ferry leaves each 2 hours from 6 a.m. till 7 p.m. - it takes 25 min. - price 30 Pesos per person |

| Arriving by car? In Chiquilà you'll find controled parking lots - cost 20 to 30 Pesos daily (depending how big your car is). Don't bring your car to Holbox - you can't go enywhere and first of all the car-ferry just leaves on sertain days. |

| How to get into the City from Cancun Airport? From Cancun airport there is 3 possibilities to get into the city. The most common is the share taxis (Collectivos 9 USD per person). They usually go first to the Zona Hotelera (26 km of Hotels, 30 minutes drive) before they go into down town. If you prefer to take a private taxi they charge around 300 pesos (~35USD) for the taxi. There is a bus actually for the airport-employees but they take also tourists (45 pesos per person). The bus leaves across the parking just in front of the arrival building (200-300m). If you ask about the bus in the airport they will not tell you. |

| How to get to Chiquilà (Holbox) from Cancun? There is three buses traveling daily to Chiquilà leaving from the busterminal in center Cancun (Tickets to the left ). One early in the morning and two after midday (timetable see WebPage, section Site plan). It will take 3 hours to Chiquilà - price 55 Pesos. Usually the bus has connection with the boat going to Holbox. The boat from Chiquilà to Holbox takes 25 min. and charges 30 pesos per person. In case you meet other people in Chiquilà heading for Holbox you can charter a boat for around the same price. Arriving in Holbox take a taxi (golf cars) to Chimay (40-50 pesos). |

| Is there a bank on Holbox Island? On Holbox Island there is no bank and no money exchange machines but you'll have the possibility to change cash US Dollars, Euros and Travelers cheques - credit cards are mostly not accepted. In Villas Chimay we do accept Mastercard and Visacard. |

| What about Mosquitoes? Bring some Mosquito repellent with you and maybe a long sleeve shirt and trousers the Mosquitos can be quite bad sometimes. |

| Is there a store close by to buy food/Snacks/Sun-lotion/Mosquito-repellent etc. ? In town there is several shops selling essential things you might need. You'll also find fruit en vegetable. |

| Transportation on Holbox Island? Arriving on Holbox Island take a taxi (golfcar) to Villas Chimay - cost 40 to 50 pesos per taxi. |
